Murder in Ladyville is 14th for month

With barely enough time to gather evidence in the mounting backlog of murders committed over the last three weeks, Police forensic investigators were at it again this morning, this time in Ladyville. News 5’s Jacqueline Woods has the story.

“I would ah really wah find out right now why this really happen to ah.”

Foot and shoe prints along with pools of blood provide a trail of evidence, believe left behind by twenty-four year old Kenroy Kelbert Kelly as he tried to desperately get away from his killers by running across this open dumpsite. This morning around seven forty five Ladyville police, acting on a tip went out to the area and discovered the security guard¡¦s body lying about one hundred yards off the Marage Road Extension in the village. The left shoe was missing and Kelly, who was not working at the time of the incident, had stab and chop wounds to the head and neck.

“Based on the blood that was found on the street, we believe that somehow he might have gotten the first injury on the street, made his escape and he was later caught up where we found him.”

Kelly, a Belize City resident, is believed to have been forcibly taken to the area. Family members would not speak to News Five on camera, but said a relative saw their loved one around eight last night in the city and he appeared to be in an obvious rage. It is reported that Kelly was involved in an earlier argument with someone he knew, but it is not certain if this incident is connected to the murder. The family say they know Kelly had misunderstandings with several individuals but they do not know if that is why he was killed.

“We made checks within the immediate area and nobody seems to have heard or seen anything last night. We need to follow up all angles to see exactly what–and to reach a conclusion on exactly what happened. At this time it¡¦s hard for us to say exactly what took place.”

Kelly’s murder is numbered forty-one for the year and the fourteenth in this month alone.
