Arraignment of Alleged Murderers is Delayed to Tuesday
Outside the courtroom building this evening, a detail of heavily armed law enforcement personnel stood guard over the vehicle transporting the alleged murderers. Moments later, Panton informed the media that there would be no arraignment because the indictment of his clients was initially set for Tuesday morning. Here’s how he explained what happened.
Herbert Panton, Attorney
“When I left Belmopan this afternoon, this evening; we were adjourned for two tomorrow so I don’t know how it is that we came to be arraigning anybody at this hour. The chief magistrate has left; she has said that she will deal with it in the morning. That’s the end of the matter as far as today is concern.”

“Any reason why?”
Herbert Panton
“It’s too late. The building is already locked up. They can’t find the caretaker; it is too late.”
Reporter
“So the men have to go back to where?”
Herbert Panton
“Well I would hope that they would keep them here in Belize City.”
