Banda Cellula Visits from Panama
The Cellula Band of Panama is in the country; the band arrived late this evening and will be performing two free concerts in Orange Walk and San Ignacio. Established in 2011, the six-member band plays pop and roots reggae. The band’s visit is organized by Embassy of Panama in Belize in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture. The first concert takes place on Saturday in San Ignacio and on Sunday, the band will be appearing in Orange Walk Town. We caught up earlier today with band members.

“We are living right now in Guadalajara, Mexico…we are recording on a new CD; it took us like thirty-six hours, but we know a lot of the places around Mexico. And then Belize; we saw a little of the beaches and it was very fun.”

“So six guys in a band?”
“Yeah….like the movies…it is very fun.

“So what brings you guys to Belize?”
Band Member, Cellula
“We come to share our style of music with exchanging with our embassies to share the music that we have. The fusion and the style. It is reggae, but it is kinda different. We have like jazz, Latin funk. It is a different kind of reggae; it’s not your usual roots reggae song, but different. So we come here to share our talent and music with the Belizean public.”
