Overnight Shootings in Belize City and San Pedro Leaves Teenager Injured
Two persons were injured in separate shootings on Thursday night in Belize City and San Pedro. In the Old Capital shortly after nine o’clock, gunshots rang out in the vicinity of Central American Boulevard near its intersection with Jane Usher Boulevard. When the gunfire subsided, a seventeen-year-old male had been shot to the right shoulder. According to the teenager, he was visiting a friend and had been standing in front of a gate when a lone gunman approached from the direction of the port. While the young man remains hospitalized in a stable condition, police are investigating the incident. Meanwhile, in San Pedro, forty-five-year-old Calvin Chi Senior reported to police on the island that around seven-thirty that same night he was at home with his friend Louis Young. During that time someone approached the residence and shouted for Leroy. When Chi replied that Leroy wasn’t there, he heard a barrage of gunshots. He hit the floor for cover and when he went to his bathroom, saw two males running from the area. Police have detained two minors for questioning.
