$190,000 in Benz; 3 charged with laundering
One hundred and ninety thousand dollars in cash. It wasn’t won in Lotto, and all those long-shot bets on the Pistons won’t be paid until Tuesday night at the earliest. So what was that kind of money doing in a Mercedes Benz searched by police on Partridge Street Friday Morning? That’s what they’d like to know. Authorities would not say what made them become suspicious of the vehicle or if anyone was in the car at the time, but as a result, police have arrested forty-three year old William Johnson, forty-one year old Carl Meighan, and thirty-one year old Joseph Garbutt and charged all three with money laundering. Authorities say the men could not explain the origin of the money and have so far refused to talk.
