Dangriga “hero” busted for coke
It sounded a little bit too good to be true, but when we expressed our doubts to the police they assured us the report was on the up and up. What I’m referring to is a story we ran earlier this week in which a household in Dangriga, led by one John Lambey, rose up in rebellion against the invasion of their home by a trio of armed robbers. Distracted by his victims, the gunman, Clayton White of Belize City, was not only disarmed, but also sent to the hospital with a well-placed set of machete wounds. Today, however, we are informed by police that while the narrative may have been accurate… there were some unrevealed details: namely that the motive for the robbery was a large amount of drugs said to be hidden in the house. Around six-thirty Thursday morning those drugs–over three pounds of cocaine–were found by police at the same Oak Street address inhabited by John Lambey. Police have brought drug trafficking charges against forty-year-old Lambey along with five others present in the house: thirty-year old Agnes Lee, twenty-nine year old Clifton Flores, forty-year old John Pineda, thirty-eight year old Stanley Lambey, and forty-two year old Carlton Ramirez. Meanwhile, the wounded Clayton White was sufficiently recovered to be charged with aggravated assault and keeping an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
