Armed robber caught and beaten by Dangrigans
One of the laws of physics dictates that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. And while crime does not necessarily behave with the predictability of physics, every now and then a reaction is produced that resonates strongly with a public long fed up with its sense of helplessness and victimization. The latest response occurred in Dangriga where police report that a would be armed robber was overpowered by his intended victims and received a good old-fashioned ass-whooping. According to a police release, a man later identified as Clayton White, accompanied by two men, entered a house on Oak Street in Dangriga belonging to John Lambey. Lambey told police that White, armed with a nine-millimetre pistol, held him and several friends at bay while the accomplices began to take various items from the rest of the house. At some point, the gunman became distracted and the residents took the opportunity to overpower him, securing a machete in the process. While the gunman’s two friends quickly fled the scene, the intended victims proceeded to repay White for his kindness by lashing him repeatedly with the machete, connecting to the hand, head, and back. At some point, police were summoned and the bloody White, along with the gun and six rounds of ammo, were turned over to the cops. White is recovering under guard at the Southern Regional Hospital while a second suspect has been detained, pending charges.
