Cops wound suspect, foil burglary in P.G.
Police in Punta Gorda chalked up a success early this morning when, following a shootout, they foiled a burglary. Around one forty-five this morning police responded to a call from P.G. businessman Victor Hernandez who reported hearing a gunshot and his two daughters screaming. Hernandez exited his bedroom to find two men, armed with his own nine-millimetre pistol, leaving the house after stockpiling a number of his belongings in a corner. The cops soon intercepted three men running from the scene and when the men opened fire, police shot back, wounding one in the leg. In the end the wounded suspect, twenty-seven year old Wesley Emmanuel, was captured along with one of his two companions and the pistol. The third escaped but is believed to still be in Punta Gorda. The two detained men are expected to be charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated assault.
