Car flips, but injuries minor
It did not appear on the original weekend police blotter, maybe because there were no serious injuries, but a spectacular accident on the Northern Highway caused quite a commotion in Belize City Saturday night. According to police, this Suzuki Side Kick sitting on top of a Mazda pickup originally collided into the side of a third vehicle–also a Mazda pickup–that was reversing onto the highway out of the parking lot of the Friendship Chinese restaurant. The resulting impact sent the Side Kick flipping several times, coming to rest on top of the pickup that was parked in front of the Travellers office at mile two and a half. The driver of that unlucky vehicle was reportedly inside the restaurant purchasing food when the accident happened. A passenger in the first Mazda pickup, Juanita Fox, sustained minor injuries to her abdomen, while the driver of the Side Kick, Dean Dawson, fractured his left wrist.
