G.O.B. hopes to ease passport crisis
In an update to the story we broke earlier this week on the shortage of passports, a release from the Government Press Office indicates that help may be on the way. According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, it’s possible that passport printer Thomas De La Rue of England may be able to make a partial delivery within the next few weeks. Originally, the full shipment was not due to arrive in Belize until the end of July. The Immigration Department has also been able to round up approximately two hundred blank passports from various embassies and consulates abroad. In the meantime, if you’re not planning to travel this summer you may be better off waiting until September or October when Belize will shift to more secure machine readable passports which will make it easier to enter the United States and other countries.
