16 Year Old Arraigned for Sexual Assault of Younger Brother
Earlier this week, we reported on the shocking news coming out of the Cayo District; that an eleven-year-old boy of Santa Elena had been sodomized, allegedly by his sixteen-year-old brother as he slept inside his room last Friday. Following a report made late last week, investigations were immediately launched into the matter and today, the accused sibling was charged for an unnatural crime and then arraigned in the San Ignacio Magistrate’s Court. The minor was remanded into custody until Monday, August twenty-second, when bail will be considered. According to the underage victim, around three o’clock that morning, he woke up to find his brother anally penetrating him. The eleven-year-old was subsequently taken to the Western Regional Hospital where a doctor confirmed that he had been sexually violated. C.E.O. in the Ministry of Human Development, Judith Alpuche, confirmed to News Five that an application was made to remove the child from the home for safety reasons. Of note is that sex with a child under sixteen is illegal and both boys and girls share equal protection under the laws of 2013.
