Mikel Longsworth Gets Two Years for Burglarizing Atlantic Bank Storage Room
A nineteen-year-old Belize City resident who picked up his first conviction for burglary of a storage room belonging to the Atlantic Bank is behind bars tonight having been sentenced to two years in prison. Mikel Longsworth appeared today before the Chief Magistrate for the offense which was committed this past Saturday at the bank’s storage room on Mahogany Street Extension. He took a guilty plea and when he was asked why he entered the storage room, Longsworth did not have a justified cause for his action, but admitted that it was not the first time he had tried to entry the room. In a statement to police, Robert Leslie, reported that on Saturday morning at nine o’clock, he visited the area and saw that police had detained a culprit who was found inside the building. Fortunately, nothing was stolen from inside the facility. And when asked what he was doing in there, Longsworth told the court he was looking for a few instruments.
