Cop shoots rowdy bar patron in foot
While the morgue may be empty, it doesn’t mean that police were lamping up over the weekend. On the contrary, one officer in Bella Vista Village in Stann Creek was forced to shoot a disorderly bar patron in the foot. According to police reports, Jeremy Turcios was hit by a single bullet from the service revolver of Police Constable Chiac. This was after Turcios cracked a pint bottle across the P.C.’s forehead. A brawl apparently ensued in which patrons of the Corado Bar came to the aid of Turcios, throwing various objects at a group of cops trying to effect the arrest. In an effort to stop the advance, Chiac opened fire. Both Chiac and Turcios were taken to Southern Regional Hospital. The Police Commissioner has ordered a thorough investigation. In the meantime, Turcios has been arrested and charged with resisting arrest, wounding, obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct, and what is for us a previously un-known crime called throwing missiles. Seven others involved in the melee were charged with similar offences.
