P.U.P. Leader Gives Kudos to Friday Protestors in Belmopan
In the wake of Friday’s chaotic sitting, the People’s United Party announced that it has agreed to hold a series of activities; the first to take place on Wednesday at the Senate meeting and to be followed by a demonstration in Belize City. The P.U.P. invites Belizeans across the country to join the cause in voicing condemnation of the United Democratic Party government, in light of the many scandals that it is currently embroiled in. Leader of the Opposition John Briceño also acknowledged the effort of the Evangelical Church, as well as other organizations that were present at Friday’s protest in Belmopan.
John Briceño, Party Leader, P.U.P.
“I want to congratulate all those that were out there. They were out there for that but to also show their displeasure with corruption in government, the mishandling of the economy, of the many issues and that is why we are also appealing to everyone, that next week Wednesday when in Belize City that we should all come together as Belizeans for us to show that we are completely fed up of the corrupt ways of the U.D.P. government. Actually I take the opportunity here that on Wednesday we are also asking people to go and show support to our senators because they are going to have a fight on the their hands. The U.D.P. government is going to do everything possible to avoid a senate investigation. So if we can have people out there in large numbers to show that we support the call of the senators for an investigation, the call for… it will strengthen their hand. So I take the opportunity to invite everybody who is prepared to join us, we are going to be out there also showing our support on Wednesday.”
