Man with toy rifle charged with assault
While police look for suspects in the latest city murder, they have arrested and charged a man who seemed bent on a shooting spree…the weapon of choice, however, was a toy gun. According to police, twenty-three year old Dwayne Gentle, an employee of Belize Waste Control, has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault. It is alleged that around three-fifteen Monday afternoon Gentle, wearing a hood over his head, entered the yard of Bethel Primary School on Freetown Road and pointed what appeared to be a rifle at a school teacher and warden. They called the cops and Gentle was arrested a short time later. According to police, Gentle told them the gun was a toy and described the incident as a joke. Given the current level of urban violence, authorities were not amused.
