A new show starts tonight right here on Channel Five, following the news package. Enviro-Connect Belize is a reality television show by the Department of Environment to highlight the various environmental issues affecting the country. Six teams travel the country to compete in various challenges in hopes to win the grand prize. Environmental Officer Celi Cho came to News Five’s studios today to give you a sneak peek of Enviro-Connect.

“The show involves six teams that are competing for a grand prize of two thousand dollars. They have to go through different challenges for each. So there are six shows and each show focuses on a specific environmental issue and the teams go through a different challenge for each show. We have shows that should be able to suit different audiences. We have about cooking, we have cave tubing, we have scavenger race so we try to fill it with entertaining activities that audiences can enjoy. We have issues such as marine degradation, solid waste management, green economy…we also talk about protected areas and climate change. It’s a lot of work but at the same time, it’s very satisfying because we meet different people, we learn new experiences, we learn what channel five does. For the show we traveled to different places throughout Belize—we’ve been in Dangriga at Pelican Beach Resort, Cayo at Black Rock Lodge; we visited Old Belize, the Zoo. It has been fun.”

The show starts tonight at eight p.m. after the news here on Channel Five, so stay tuned.
