Body of woman identified as Ella Mae Bennett
On Monday’s newscast we reported on the vicious murder of a woman on Central American Boulevard. Police have confirmed that the woman is forty-one year old Ella Mae ‘Gial Gial’ Bennett, a Honduran domestic of Mopan Street. Bennett, who has lived in Belize for the past nineteen years was last seen alive on Saturday night. On Monday afternoon her partially decomposed and half nude body was discovered on the veranda of an abandoned house. Today, News Five spoke with the police and the cousin of the deceased, Valda Bodden, who both confirm that contrary to some media reports, the mother of three was never ‘raped’ or ‘sexually assaulted with a stick’ nor was her ‘right breast cut off’.

“People are saying that one of her breasts were cut off and she was stabbed various times to the pelvic area, is that so?”

“Mr. Moody, I am not sure and I have seen the news and where they got that information I am not sure. As a result, on conclusion of the post mortem, the doctors arrived that she died as a result of injuries she received on her head only. That she was hit with a blunt instrument; that’s the only injuries that were observed and that is what she died of. There is nothing of where the breast were—one of the newscast said that one of the breasts were severed or cut off, she had burned sticks jammed somewhere on part of her—I don’t know where they got that story cause that is not so.”

“Me noh know. Me and she talk di Friday but she neva tell me dat anybody mi di threaten ah. She does have a drinking problem and use to smoke the drugs, that’s all but she no crazy; she mi good. I feel bad cause she dah noh from yah and we no have no family yah. Ih hurt me and I just want whosoever do it, God wah punish dehn. I feel really bad.”
The post mortem conducted on Bennett’s body certified that she died due to massive brain hemorrhaging due to multiple skull fractures. Forty-eight year old Edward ‘Pleck’ Buller has been arrested and will be formally arraigned for the murder in court tomorrow. Buller will also be charged for a Mischievous Act because he claimed his name was Mark McDonald when he was initially detained.
