Crooked cop busted in sting operation

Intent on keeping bad cops off the line, a sting operation launched by the Internal Affairs Unit of the Police Department has resulted in the arrest of another officer. Police Constable Brentford Longsworth has been charged with extortion after he “charged” a local businessman eight hundred dollars in exchange for the recovery of a stolen firearm. According to I.A., the businessman had reported his gun stolen only to later be contacted by P.C. Longsworth, who said he could get back the gun… for a fee. Internal Affairs set the trap and Longsworth took the bait, and was arrested just as he left the businessman’s office, with the money in his pocket. The department is asking all members of the public to report any instance of police misconduct.
