Land symposium to review consultation results
Next month, the National Lands Advisory Committee will be holding a symposium as a follow-up to its nationwide consultations. These were held to obtain the views of the public on issues of land allocation, acquisition, and the formation of a Land Distribution Policy. A synthesis of the meetings with landowners, real estate agents, farmers, community organisations and others will be presented at the two-day meeting on May sixth and seventh at the Belize Biltmore Plaza. Presenters and moderators will include managers, businesspeople, attorneys, and technical experts in the field of land management, and there will be representatives from all six districts. Senator Godwin Hulse is the facilitator and Minister of Natural Resources Johnny Briceno will give the keynote address. Comments and recommendations from the public will be taken into account in the formulation of a national policy on land allocation and the establishment of a Land Distribution Authority.
