“In our story we have four sections that goes from to the other, to the other but you know at the end there is still secrets that haven’t been revealed. That why our themed is secrets of the sea and there are lots of things that have happened in real life story and they have never been told and never having an answer to what have happened so our theme is secrets of the sea, things that have never come up to life.”

“We have all the beauty of the sea, we have the whining corals, the stinging lionfish, the beautiful mermaid and every the secret rise to join the fete. After that we have the sailors who have seen the beauty of the sea, they are lowered into it and try to conquer it but in the middle of a terrible storm our queen arises followed by her daughters and they temp the sailors with their beauty and they capture them in their oysters and take them out to the bottom the sea with the king and his followers after a little after he plays with his food, he snatches off their heads and they all devour them and the secrets of the sea are never revealed.”

Four blocks away, at the corner ofDean StreetandAmara Avenuewas the junior group, Trench Town Masqueraders. Their queen placed second this year and Band Leader Patricia Flowers says that they are coming for a win with “Belize: Our Tropical Paradise.”

“This year, I’m on top not like last year, as you can see everybody is ready. This year we are portraying Belize; our Tropical Paradise, when we are talking about Belize how will you not be ready Guatemalan can’t come take us because Trenchtown is bringing it back to them. We are portraying five sections, we are doing Belize like I said our Tropical Paradise and when we move on to tropical we are displaying flowers, fruits, birds and butterflies; everything that we see here in Belize.”

Defending champions for the junior competition of the carnival road march is Jump Street Posse. They are aiming for a third win in a row…and with capturing first place with both Queen Renata and King Fayah Bun…Marina Welcome is dead set on retaining the title.

“My theme is “Burn to Emerge” after disasters you have to emerge and my disaster where the fire and Hurricane Haiti and Queen Renata she is the one that emerge. I started from January, I would have done a long time ago but Hurricane Earl came and damage me a lot, so I had to redo a section and a half so we just finished last night. We have 65 strong and we are ready to rumble because we are going to burn up Boulevard and we are going to blow up K.H.M.H. and we are going to emerge when we get to Marion Jones.”

Our last stop for the night was at senior camp, Eternity Mas Band. Honoring the country with “Our Belize – Land So Free, So Rich and So Bless,” Misty Williams says that they’ve incorporated vibrant colors in their costumes.

We are blessed we believe the most with our barrier reef.”

That’s thirteen so far and three more bands to go in Mas Camp 2016. Duane Moody for News Five.
