Care-Belize opens new headquarters
Two years after Care-Belize was launched, the non-governmental organization now has a permanent headquarters from where it will be able to better provide rehabilitation services for persons with physical disabilities. The office is located on Gabourel Lane and that is where News 5 caught up with Care Belize field officer, Roxanne Jones and volunteer physical therapist, Sister Beverly Hoffman.

“Before, we had shared space with B.C.V.I. in the Red Cross building in the Belize District. In the Cayo District we shared space with Red Cross; in the Toledo District we?re still sharing space with the Red Cross. We just occupied as small space and we?re accumulating wheelchairs, we?re accumulating aids that we use, so we needed somewhere bigger.”

“Here at the Care-Belize building, we hope to provide a space for people that would like to come and learn about disabled children and children with special needs. We have volunteers in the community who would like to come and help us, so we have a place for them to gather. We also have a conference room that will be available for concerned people that are interested in children with special needs so that we can have meetings. And we hope to provide some educational seminars in the future.”
Care?Belize began its activities in Toledo and last year, with financial support from the Government, started providing services in the Cayo and Belize Districts. This year it expanded to the Orange Walk District.
