Deadbeat dad claims police brutality

Story Picture
He claims he was the victim of a beating at the hands of the police. And while Asban Gordon had the bruises and blood stains to prove he’s been roughed up, he maintains he did nothing to provoke the cops. According to Gordon, the incident happened around midday today in front of Mars Spicy Kitchen on Yarborough Road in the middle of a populated neighbourhood.

Asban Gordon, Victim

“They claim they have a warrant for me for some maintenance. I told the officer, Okay, let?s go with me and let me just go back home and deliver the food, then I will got with you to the family court or wherever you will carry me. The officers insist, No, no, no, come and park your vehicle now, I noh worry bout food, no worry bout nothing. I tell ah, hey I just live back there. So all I do, I just decided, I just di drive slow and I take it over the bridge and come right round. By that time, two other police vehicles come from nowhere (makes siren sound) and I keep driving my normal speed of thirty-five. And I drive, and I get right back to my place of business. I never even had the break to get out my vehicle because they brought their vehicles and brace me. By the time I turn my face, this is what I get by the time I turn my face, gun butt, gun butt. I tell them, hey, mek I come outta the vehicle. That time, the blood everything. No, yuh noh wah come out. See mi pants, they grab me inna mi pants, grab me inna mi hair, di do mi all kind a craziness, and the people them deh right deh and the people tell them ease up, mek we ease up. And they just keep insisting yah this dah with uno, and just going on with a lot go crazy attitude that really never necessary.”

“I saw the police beating him up, brutalizing him. He was trying to get out of the vehicle and they butt him up in his head with the gun and beat him up in his face, I witness that.?

Patrick Jones

?So the policemen they just jump out of their car and started to beat him?

Shyann Price

?Started to beat him. They chase him down right there as he stop the vehicle and they got out and they started to beat him.?

Patrick Jones

?What were they saying as they were beating up on him??

Shyann Price

?They just tell us to stay away because they wah arrest we too. Back off, unu back off. And we just kept screaming out and tell them they noh have to beat up the man like that.”

Gordon says he has stopped paying child support for a twelve year old child, whom a previous girlfriend claims is his. He received several stitches to his face this afternoon at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and was under observation pending release into police custody. When contacted this evening, Police Press Officer G. Michael Reid said his department will investigate the complaint but initial inquiries suggest that Gordon’s injuries are not consistent with the claim of brutality. The family, in the meantime, has sought legal counsel to deal with the problem.
