Colombian Company Employs Guatemalans to Fix B.T.L. Network Issues

While on the issue of B.T.L. the state-run company has confirmed that it has contracted the services of Ingetelca to assist with their recovery process following the damages to its infrastructure from Hurricane Earl. While that company is Colombian owned, B.T.L. acknowledges that its employees in Belize are Guatemalan. The issue has been bubbling on social media because Guatemalan crews have been seen in the Belama area of Belize City conducting repairs for the government-owned company. In a late evening response, Telemedia explains that it did not have enough resources to restore service to affected customers of its fixed internet and home phone service and the company engaged both Belizean and regional contractors to do the repairs. According to B.T.L., Ingetelca also operates across Central America and its seven support crews were deployed to Belize given the nature of the emergency and logistics involved. The crews have been seconded to Belize until October seventh.
