Teachers’ Union Bears Down for Strike Action
Palacio confirmed that the strike action is not indefinite. Despite the Union’s own financial issues, he says the teachers are quite willing to make the sacrifices necessary to cut the Government down to size.
Luke Palacio, National President, B.N.T.U.
“No, we cannot say that it’s indefinite, but we know that we will carry out industrial action.”

“Sir, the Union just mass mobilized last week Monday; is it financially prepared to do so in the next week?”
Luke Palacio
“We cannot tell you that we are financially prepared to do so; it is a very costly undertaking but we do have mechanisms in place that we can sustain the industrial action and the activities that we intend to undertake.”

“…Including the pay that will be docked from you for however many days you are out?”
Luke Palacio
“Again, we have said it; our teachers have said it; that if it means losing a hundred dollars, losing two hundred dollars to save this country, for generations yet unborn, then we are prepared to do that.”
