Lots of Long Holidays Coming in 2017

Here’s a little help to get you over holiday blues. Mark your calendars for some long weekends in 2017. Today, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced next year’s holidays which will see thirteen holidays with twelve week days and one weekend day. Kicking off the year, Monday January second will be observed as the holiday for New Year’s Day Sunday, January first. In March, National Heroes and Benefactor’s Day will be observed on Monday March sixth in lieu of Thursday, March ninth. The following month in April, the Easter Holidays will fall as follows: Good Friday on April fourteenth, Holy Saturday on April fifteenth and Easter Monday on April seventeenth. Moving on to May, the two holidays will both be observed on Mondays with Labour Day on the first and Sovereign’s Day/Commonwealth Day observed on the twenty second instead of the twenty-first. For the month of September, St George’s Caye Day will be observed on Monday, September eleventh in place of Sunday, the tenth and Independence Day falls on the Thursday, September twenty first. Pan American Day will be observed on Monday, October ninth in lieu of Thursday the twelfth and Garifuna Settlement Day will be observed on Monday, November twentieth in lieu of Sunday the nineteenth. Christmas Day and Boxing Day will be on Monday and Tuesday of December twenty sixth and twenty seventh.
