“We need the intervention along with the business community to getting out their products to market their products as a product from Belize City or a product of Belize. We need them to invest likewise in getting the ideas out across belie City.

I recently was on a trip to Nicaragua where their brand is a tree and they have basically placed this tree on every single avenue and street. It is about a hundred feet high, lighted in bright colors along their highways to introduce you to Nicaragua. Recently, this week, I was in Chetumal and they are going through the same process. They have actually incorporated into the state of Quintana Roo a mahogany tree using vibrant colors and then promoting the different cultural activities; what makes Quintana Roo what it is in Mexico. Those are some of the things that we are actually looking forward to for the business community to actually work along with us in promoting these aspects of Belize City. It is not only about our parks and playgrounds; yes, it is about our business. We need to attract more investors coming to Belize; we need to get away from the divide—south side versus north side.”
