Former Murder Suspect Charged with Double Shooting Incident

Bartholomew Lucas

Former murder suspect Bartholomew Lucas has been charged with use of deadly means of harm, grievous harm and aggravated assault with a firearm in connection with a shooting in Pink’s Alley on Sunday, September twenty-fourth. Michael Usher was standing in front of a house in the area when he saw Lucas, well-known to him, walking toward him aggressively and carrying a nine-millimeter pistol in his left hand. According to Usher, Lucas was making threatening statements and they began to argue. From twenty feet away, Lucas pointed the pistol at him and fired twice but missed both shots. However, twenty-nine year old Lliana Rivero was the recipient of the gunfire as she stood behind her door on the upper level of the building in front of which Usher was standing. Usher was grazed to the hand. Chief Magistrate Ann-Marie Smith remanded Lucas until January fifteenth, 2017 when he is set to go on trial. Disclosure has been granted for November twenty-eighth, 2016 where he will be provided with the evidence the police are intending to rely on to prove the charges against him. No motive has been established yet for the shooting incident. However, reports are that the two have been beefing for a while. Usher and two other men saw murder charges in relation to the death of Harrison Smith in October of 2014 withdrawn last November due to insufficient evidence.
