Queen Square Anglican School Will Get New Building

William Lamb Jr.

Over six hundred students will benefit from a major upgrade to the Queen Square Anglican Primary School in Belize City. The nine hundred and fifty thousand dollars project will include the construction of a new school building for the Southside School.  The project includes new infrastructure as well as the demolition and reconstruction of derelict classrooms. The project is funded by the Caribbean Development Bank through a loan to the Government and implemented through the Social Investment Fund.

William Lamb Jr., Executive Director, SIF

“The investment is for a six classroom building. It has also teacher’s office and restroom. It is a full concrete building that can definitely serve the purpose during a hurricane or shelter from the storm. It is over five thousand square feet and just under a million dollars. SIF has a standard when it comes to restroom and when it comes to classrooms. There are six classrooms but big in size just to ensure that it has the right student to square foot ratio as it is set out in the guidelines of the Ministry of Education. Anywhere SIF goes to put in education, it is a significant development for that community. We are glad to let it be a part of this one. Through the same loan, we are doing for Grace Primary and Gwen Liz.”

The project is will be completed by March of next year.
