Woman fights off rapist

A man is in police custody after he tried to rape a woman who valiantly fought him off despite being beaten in the head with a hammer. The bizarre and terrifying incident unfolded at four and a half miles on the Northern Highway this afternoon. According to reports, the man identified as twenty-seven year old George Waite of a Victoria Street address, went to the location which rents apartments and asked twenty-three year old Dillian Perez if there were any rooms available. Perez said yes and then took Waite to see one of the units. But as soon as they were inside, Waite reportedly pulled out a knife and threatened to rape her. Perez resisted and Waite then pulled out a hammer and struck her in the head. Perez collapsed on the floor and while she was unconscious, Police say Waite started to take off her clothes. She suddenly revived and started once again to fight off her attacker, but Waite grabbed the hammer again and bashed Perez across the forehead. Police believe when Perez started to bleed profusely, Waite panicked and ran out of the building. Somehow Perez had enough strength to follow behind him and scream for help. Neighbours apprehended Waite as he was running away and held him until police arrived. Waite was promptly placed into custody and charged for his crime.
