Story Picture
If high fuel prices have you down, or your old car or truck is starting to be a source of embarrassment, you might want to think about getting a new set of wheels. And where can you take a look at all the different new cars, trucks, and S.U.V.’s available in Belize right now? The Auto Trade Show of course. Patrick Jones has a preview.

Eddie Bouloy, General Manager, BRAVO Motors

“We want to make it very clear. We have vehicles to fit very many budgets.”

Patrick Jones, Reporting

The sixth annual auto show will feature a wide range of trucks, S.U.V.’s, cars and vans decked out with accessories. Both Eddie Bouloy from BRAVO and Mel Auil from J.M.A. Motors say their companies will use the weekend event to introduced new lines of vehicles to consumers.

Eddie Bouloy

“For Bravo Motors, we are premiering our Isuzu DMAX which is one of the hot vehicles, it’s the talk of the town right now. And we’re also premiering the very, very popular Nissan Frontier. Both will have their first ever showing at the auto show and we’re expecting a lot of sales and a tremendous response to these vehicles.”

Mel Auil, General Manager, J.M.A. Motors

“The newest product that we have on the market is the Mitsubishi Outlander. It is a small sport utility vehicle that we introduced late last year. And it’s a sport utility vehicle basically mixed with a car. It’s designed for the ladies and it is fully loaded with air bags, anti-lock brakes, and all the safety features and the comforts for a female person.”

But besides those attributes, Auil says that with the rising cost of fuel, owning one will not be hard on the pocket book.

Mel Auil

“It is one of the few gasoline vehicles that we sell. The majority of the vehicles that we sell are all four cylinder, diesel engine vehicles.”

Bouloy says that the show has grown over the last six years and each of the four major dealers will be go head to head this weekend to try to win the hearts of consumers with special prices.

Eddie Bouloy

“In our lines we’re going to have a variety of everything that we carry. And we will be giving probably some of the best deals out there this weekend.”

Patrick Jones

“Given the rising cost of fuel, are these vehicles good for the Belizean people?”

Eddie Bouloy

“They are, and I am glad you asked that. Ninety-five percent of what I sell is diesel. Diesel fuel is becoming the fuel of choice among Belizean consumers. For those consumers who want to remain with gasoline engines, we offer small four cylinder gasoline engines that are very fuel-efficient. For example our Nissan Extrail S.U.V., it gives you twenty-two miles to the gallon. And we are introducing a small car called the Nissan Platina, four-cylinder, four-door compact car that’s going to be giving you in excess of forty miles to the gallon. And we’ll be introducing that at a very special price of thirty-six thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine dollars.”

Mel Auil

“During the course of both days we will be giving away CD players, well be giving away some T-Shirts and some other prizes. So if you come out you can be a lucky winner out there. And we have special slashed prices on the products out there, as high as five thousand dollars per vehicle if you decide to buy a vehicle within the two days.”

And if you can’t afford spot cash, Auil says mechanisms have been put in place to make it easy to ride off in a spanking new ride.

Mel Auil

“Financing will be available and if you budget yourself properly you can get a very economical car for about seven or eight hundred dollars a month if it’s financed.”

Patrick Jones, for News 5.

The show will be held at the Tourist Village. First Caribbean International Bank is so far the only financial institution that has indicated they will be present to offer financing for prospective buyers.
