Pablo Marin Says ex-Minister Can Still Help Party in the North
And what about Vega? Well, Minister of Health Pablo Marin was rather tightlipped on what he thought of his fellow minister’s departure from Cabinet. But he did say that he missed him because they were good friends. So, now that Vega is gone, who will fill those big shoes in the north? The most senior Marin from Corozal Bay? We asked him today if he will be taking over the reins. Again, he was very vague about his interest or lack of. Here’s what he had to say:
Pablo Marin, Minister of Health
“Well, he is my good friend and my colleague. It is sad to hear that. It is just something that happens and this is about where I will leave that question.”
Andrea Polanco
“He is said to have been the person, the glue that kept it together for the UDP in the north; he delivered the north for the U.D.P. I believe he was the most senior for the UDP in the north, now that seat is empty. Will you be taking up that to fill that void that he has left?”
Pablo Marin
“It is not about filling the post. Every individual has to work in his area and that is how it is. But, yes, Gaspar Vega brought that union not only to the north, but to the entire country. He did help a lot of area representatives and he did walk the streets with every area representative that needed his help. He is a good person that I can say. He has a big heart that he will help anyone that needs it, it doesn’t matter who they are. That is Gaspar Vega. Sadly to say he has resigned from Cabinet. We will all miss him. He still remains my good friend.”

“But will you be working with them to hold the party together in the north- to deliver the north for the U.D.P.?”
Pablo Marin
“Well, we always work together. That is one thing I can say. Every are rep, I think you know in the area of Dr. Campos, I was the one who entered in that particular area and helped him to move it along. He won that division. Hugo Patt is a senior also minister and he does his thing on that particular area. But also we will tend to put some help along. The Mayor from Corozal will help along. It is a team work. With us, if there is a problem if one of the ministers is doing anything then we have to take the consequence of what the Prime Minister would…”
Andrea Polanco
“Do you believe his exit will weaken the U.D.P. in the north?”
Pablo Marin
“I think it will affect his constituency. I can say in the Bay, once I work or once an area representative do his job, continue to work along with his people, has his office open, deliver what they want, then we can win again.”
