More Guns Off the Streets

In other news out of Eastern Division South; tonight, police say there are two fewer guns on the street. With assistance from the public, they were able to recover two guns with ammunition from the Saint Martin’s area on Sunday. In a separate incident, over nine hundred grams of weed was confiscated. While the weapons and drugs were found abandoned, the guns will be examined to see if they have been used to commit other crime:

“On three different occasions, Police received information and acting upon those information received, we were able to confiscate from the streets yesterday, two firearms; a nine millimeter pistol with eighteen live rounds and one point thirty eight revolver. The other incident, we seized a total of nine hundred and twenty nine grams of cannabis from the streets. So, I want to continue to give thanks to the public for helping us in making southside Belize City a safer place.”

“Sir, do you know any origins of these items; the guns, the drugs. Is it believed that these firearms were used in any commission of crimes lately?”

ACP Chester Williams

“Well, from where we are currently, we don’t have any evidence to suggest that any of them have been used in the commission of any crime. But as is customary, we have packaged the firearms and today they will be sent to the national forensic service where the firearm examiner will examine them and they will be compared to shells that have been retrieved from other crime scenes to see if there is a pattern in the use of the firearm. And whether there is a possibility if either of them have been used in the commission of any crime.”
