Joan Duran art show opens at Image Factory
A new show opens at the Image Factory in Belize City tonight. It is called “J.D., the new works of Joan Duran.” The exhibition features two large photographic works consisting of multiple image panels taken from television, and fourteen paintings produced over the last ten months. The paintings are done in an informal or impressionist style that has become Duran’s signature over the past thirty years. His work involves the build up of the canvas with a variety of oil paints and industrial chemicals. Duran has had three previous shows at the Image Factory: “Introduction” in 2000, “Crescere” in 2001, and “Trisect” in 2002. The opening reception begins tonight at seven and is open to the public.
