Police urge safety over holiday
With the holiday weekend upon us, some people are already heading out of town or starting to party. But the police say they will be monitoring the highways to try and ensure a safer Baron Bliss weekend for everyone. To this end, the Belize City Traffic Department and the Transport Department have teamed up to launch a countrywide operation to force speeders to slow down, penalise drivers of buses and recreational vehicles who pack in too many passengers, and make all of us buckle up. The police are asking drivers to keep traffic regulations in mind as they head out onto the highway, and of course, not to drink and drive.
