No Change in Date for Submission of Pay Sheets, Says Faber

Among the charges made against the ministry is the deliberate bumping up of the submission of pay sheets from the ninth of every month.  According to Faber, the collection date has always been on the second, particularly in November when the Ministry of Finance has to prepare additional payroll for teachers towards the end of the calendar year.

“And this issue about accusing me of moving up the date, you ask any general manager when is the deadline for the submission of pay sheets and they will tell you that it is the second of every month.  Mr. Palacio gave an elaborate explanation about him sitting on the Teaching Services Commission that receives…  Those things go on a supplementary and he should know.  So he’s made an entire argument off me being a liar and me being disingenuous.  That is really, really unfair and I really didn’t want to engage in the back and forth and that’s why you didn’t hear me say anything on Friday’s news and so on.  And then, if at the same time you are telling us there can be no talk about using the strike fund and you’re saying at the same time it is not up to the ministry to determine makeup time, then what is it that we would meet about?  So it was a decision on the part of the union for us not to meet.  You heard me say in my emails to the president as well, which I shared with the media that in fact the doors would have been left open for such negotiations, such discussion, if you will, right up to the point of the submissions being made.  I did not move the date of the submissions of the pay sheets, you ask any general manager and they will tell you that it’s the second of the month.  That time has now come and gone.”
