There were two shootings on Sunday in the Rural Eastern Division area. The first occurred in Ladyville where a woman was shot at. While police discovered a bullet hole on the door of the wooden house, fortunately no one was injured. The second incident took place about an hour later on the Old Northern Road in which Anthony Vansen was hit. His injuries are not life threatening and he told police he didn’t see anyone or anything. Regional Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police Edward Broaster gives us the details.
ACP Edward Broaster, Regional Commander, Rural Eastern Division
“About eight-twelve p.m. last night, where one Golda Martinez was inside her house and heard three stones on top of her roof. When she opened the door to see what’s happening outside, someone on the edge of the bushes raised up with what appeared to be an object and she scurried inside the house. One loud shot was heard. No one inside was injured. She was along with her children. Thank God no one was injured. This happened in Ladyville at number three Brackett Farm. The second shooting occurred about nine p.m. last night where one Anthony Vansen was walking on the Old Maskall Road going towards the Love FM Tower, at the Old Northern Road heading to the Philip Goldson Highway when he heard what appeared to be a gunshot and he fell and he received an injury to the right upper side of his head. He was escorted to the K.H.M.H. Gratefully, that is not an injury that is life threatening and he will survive that shooting.”
