Culture house hosts elderly for Valentines
Over eighty senior citizens from Helpage and the Sister Cecilia Home for the Elderly were guests of the Belize City House of Culture this afternoon. Programme Coordinator Jason Guerrero says the annual Valentine’s social gave the senior citizens an opportunity to catch up on old times, while being serenaded by students from various city schools.

“Several times a year we do these things to try, as a House of Culture we try and liase with senior citizens, with young children, high school students. This is one of those activities, and it’s been very successful for the past several years… It’s an event in which we afford the senior citizens the opportunity to come and enjoy themselves by the sea at the House of culture, a little social.”
“We find that we invite them, yet senior citizens from this part of the city would attend as well. So they get to mingle, talk about old times and socialize generally… Each year we try and provide prizes for as many of them as we can, sponsored by the House of Culture. By the way, I’d like to mention that Traveller’s and Bowen and Bowen are big sponsors of this as well.”
