Stevedore Charged Again with Attempted Murder, This Time of 13-Year-Old Girl
A Belize City stevedore has been placed on remand again; this time accused of another attempted murder on the life of a minor. Anthony Crawford was arraigned this morning before Magistrate Carlon Mendoza. He was read three indictable offenses of attempted murder, wounding and use of deadly means of harm upon thirteen-year-old Shanaya Whylie. The child was shot on Sunday at her neighbour’s house. She was injured on the face but she managed to recognize Crawford who was carrying what appeared to be a firearm and still firing shots in the air. When police processed the scene, they found expended shells and a slug which was recovered from a nearby house. Crawford has denied involved in the shooting. He was on bail for a June shooting of Anthony Leslie, who was wounded to the left side of his chest.
