Police Searching for Missing Fisherman in Capsized Boat

A fisherman remains lost at sea tonight after a vessel he was traveling in capsized near Tobacco Caye.  The Dangriga resident has been identified only as Mister Locario.  According to Senior Superintendent Ralph Moody several others, including a woman and a toddler, were rescued at sea.  Despite a search effort conducted by members of the police department they have not been able to locate Locario.  Moody says they received a distress call at around two o’clock this afternoon.

On the Phone: Sr. Supt. Ralph Moody, Southern Regional Commander

“Police officers sought the assistance of a resident of Dangriga where two police officers left the Dangriga town area en route to the Tobacco Caye range area and along there was a watchman and the security along with his wife and a peddler and the boat captain. At about two a.m., just about a hundred yards before they can dock, the skiff then capsized. One of the male persons didn’t surface. The police officers held on to the toddler and the female until they were rescued at sea. I must say the person that is missing is one Mister Locario; at this present moment I cannot recall his first name and he is from Dangriga. The toddler along with the mother is presently in the Southern Regional Hospital and I believe that the toddler will be transported to the Western Regional Hospital sometime this afternoon.”

“Is the search for the missing fisherman or the missing individual still on sir?”

On the Phone: Sr. Supt. Ralph Moody

“Well the person missing at sea is still missing. I must say that earlier this afternoon, we had coastguard and fisheries assisting us with the search of that individual. The search will resume tomorrow morning.”
