Orange Walk Cop Charged in Police Brutality Case
An Orange Walk cop is tonight out on bail after he was charged and arraigned for the wounding of a Guinea Grass resident. In a most recent allegation of police brutality, twenty-one year old construction worker Hugo Noh accused the police officer of the village of beating him to a pulp in front of a grocery store in the village. It is also alleged that the officer had been drinking with friends when the incident occurred on November ninth. Reports are that Noh and the officer got into an argument that ended with a pistol-whipping which left Noh severely injured and unable to work. Well on Tuesday, P.C. Jaime Gongora was arrested and charged and later arraigned on Wednesday. Deputy Officer Commanding Orange Walk Police, Inspector Jose Mendez, told News Five via phone today that all complaints against officers will be investigated.

“On the fifteenth November, which is Tuesday, Mister Jaime Gongora was formally arrested and charged with the crime of wounding. This is following a report made by one Hugo Noh twenty-one years of Guinea Grass Village after making a complaint. Police conducted an investigation into the matter which led to the arrest of the officer.”

“Now sir, I understand that he was arraigned on Wednesday. Is that so?”

“Yes, he was arraigned on Wednesday for the crime of wounding and bail was granted to him to the sum of four thousand dollars which he met. And the matter was adjourned to February 2017.”

“Now sir, in cases like these, does it hamper the dialogue or the relationship that the police has with the community when you go to law enforcement for safety, but yet something like this happens?”

“Well we are still working along with the community. We are trying to regain that confidence with the community. All complaints will be followed, investigated and if there is evidence, whosoever is found to be at fault will be dealt with.”
The case was adjourned to February twenty-first 2017, but in the meantime, Gongora is on interdiction.
