Colin Murphy Makes Official Welcome to Harvest Caye
The exclusive, privately-owned tourist destination on Harvest Caye welcomed its first cruise arrival on Thursday with a grand inauguration of its multimillion dollar investment. The Norwegian Dawn called to port early in the morning and a little over two thousand visitors disembarked the vessel unto the newly remodeled island. While the media was not invited to attend the opening, our friends at the Belize Press Office have furnished us with presentations made by Colin Murphy, Vice President of Destination Development for NCL, as well as Minister of Tourism Manuel Heredia.

“We put a team of four hundred or so, give or take, between us and food and beverage and we have one of our corporate trainers do a lot of training. And I got to say that ninety-five percent of the folks that you see working here have zero hospitality experience. But we were so impressed by the quality of the people—by the attitude, by the big smile and the willingness to learn. So I’m very grateful. So finally I’ve got to thank the government of Belize; from the Prime Minister to Minister Heredia, my friend, and to every other minister in the government. Karen Bevans at the B.T.B. and her team…thank you very much for giving us this opportunity. And we’ve only been doing this for one reason…so that you could come here for seven hours and have a wonderful time, right.”
