Christmas Kettle Appeal: Every Penny Counts
While we were with the Salvation Army, we got an update on its Christmas Kettle Appeal which is underway. Your coins and paper bills donated to the church are used to help those less fortunate have a brighter Christmas, whether through the children’s lunch or food baskets. Major Joliker Leandre, the Regional Commander, is grateful for the donations already given, but with December fast approaching, more is always appreciated.

“I must say a big thank you to the media and the general public for the unreserved support every year. Every year is getting better and bigger where persons have been calling ever since we launched our Kettle Appeal and as you can see for yourselves, we have our kettles throughout the city. And the citizens are donating, for which we are indeed thankful.”

“We hear that we are in very tight financial times. Do you expect that you will get perhaps the same amount or even more than in previous years?”
Major Joliker Leander
“What I notice is when we face more hardship, people become more resolute and generous. So we don’t expect anything less. Whatever comes we know it is from the heart so we appreciate what the public is doing.”
