Collapsed Culvert Leads to Sinkhole in Middle of Philip Goldson highway

Around eight o’clock on Wednesday night, a sinkhole was discovered in the middle of the pavement in Gardenia Village on the Phillip Goldson Highway. It posed a hazard to oncoming traffic from either direction on the highway, so Ladyville Police were immediately dispatched to the area where they set up cones to alert vehicles of the danger and avoid any accidents. Hours later, Ministry of Works personnel arrived on the scene and after a quick size-up, found that a culvert had collapsed and needed immediate repair. This morning, workmen and heavy machinery were used to remove the damaged culvert and fill the gap as a temporary fix. News Five was told that over the weekend, the men will be back on the site to fix the problem.
