Yhony Rosado In Trouble Again with B.T.B.
It has been almost a month since two tour guides working for Yohnny Rosado’s Butts Up Cave Tubing Adventures were suspended by the Belize Tourism Board and National Institute of Culture and History for alleged infractions of the rules at Caves Branch Archaeological Reserve in the Cayo District. Now, Rosado says N.I.C.H. has made another move against him – demanding within thirty days the sum of forty-nine thousand dollars, which they say is monies owed by his business for use and enjoyment of the Government-owned reserve. Rosado contends he got no notice and has been blindsided. He will not be surprised by what he considers a move to put him out of business.
Yhony Rosado, Tour Operator
“Don’t be amazed if Butts Up can’t go to [the] cave, thanks to N.I.C.H., that gave me thirty days to pay up a bill that I have with them for a period of two years and a half, or we could no longer do business. NICH have given me a notice in black and white: thirty days, pay up, or else we will no longer do business. And on the same media house we are using today, we see our Government went to New York to renegotiate [on top] of renegotiate a Superbond, and I don’t see New York or the Superbond holders telling our Government we will give you thirty days or we will bombard your country. So where does N.I.C.H. get that thirty days, or else we shut you down.”
According to Rosado there has still been no explanation for why his guides were suspended.
