Get Your Tasty Tacos at Orange Walk Tacos Festival!
Best tacos in Belize? Hands down, it’s in Orange Walk Town. Vendors on the street side or in major shops, just pick your mouth-watering favourite. This coming weekend, Sugar City becomes Tacos Town, as the Sixth Annual Tacos Festival takes place on the grounds of the Banquitas House of Culture beginning on Sunday morning, November twenty-seventh. Festival organizer Dillon Jones sang the tasty dish’s praises in an interview earlier today.
Dillon Jones, Organizer, Taco Fest
“This year we have different types of tacos on the ground. The traditional chicken, pibil, but this year we have tacos al pastor, from Mexico; we will be having the picadillo, the pollo, that will be out there; and also we will be having the pibil display on the ground; so we will be cooking the pibil from Saturday night out there, so when it comes out of the ground on Saturday you can get your pibil by the pound; nice, fresh and hot to take home for the weekend or for the other week. We had somebody on the program yesterday displaying the tortilla de amano, they used to do the tortilla by hand on the comal, and then they make the tacos from there; but I was saying it came from then and now people making a living off tacos in Orange Walk and across the country.”
A prize will be awarded for the best-tasting tacos; we imagine whoever wins that competition will have earned it. Entrance is free; just bring your money to buy all the tacos you can eat – and take home.
