Pregnant woman charged with drug trafficking
Also in court, a pregnant woman, who is due to give birth soon, was charged for drug trafficking. She is twenty-one year old Carolee Orosco, who appeared before Magistrate, Carlon Mendoza. Orosco was read a single charge of possession of more than five hundred grams of weed found inside a bathroom of a house on Thursday when officers were on patrol on Ebony Street, Belize City. Inside the house, police also found a Belizean passport in the name of the owner of the house who was not present at the time of the search and the discovery of the weed. Orosco told the court her aunt did not appear because she was not present when the weed was found. As for two others charged, it is also unclear why they were not in court. Orosco was granted bail and trial is expected in February 2017. This is the not the time Orosco is facing drug charges. There is another case in 2015 when members of the A.D.U. Anti Drug Unit searched her home and found marijuana in the bathroom.
