Maskall Grandmother Gone Missing for a Week
But while a family celebrates its Gimme Five win, another is desperately in search for a loved one. It’s been a week since sixty-nine year old Gabriela Mendez, has gone missing from her house in the Spanish Town area of Maskall Village. The elderly woman, according to the family, does not suffer from any mental illness and they are even more concerned about her wellbeing. Checks were made immediately after her disappearance and there are no signs of foul play at the home of the well-known vendor in the village.
Luis Payes, Grandson of Missing Person
“She lives alone and we have a phone where we normally communicate with her very often. And I got a call from my uncle and he says Luis, I am calling your grandmother and there is no answer, none at all. So it became a concern and I went down to Maskall Village. When I reached there, it turns out that there were no signs of her. And the villagers got concerned; family members, we started looking for her from since then. We made an official report after the seventy-two hours to the Officer Commanding Rural North; they sent it to the media, I also put it on social media and we’ve been having instances where people say well we find someone who was missing at the hospital, an elder lady. I went there and it wasn’t her. We also got two reports that she was last seen in the vicinity of Maruba Resort. We have search parties from the village—men and women—searching day and night and still no joy, nothing of her.”
If you see Mendez, you are asked to contact the nearest police station or you can call her grandson, Luis Payes at 635-7288.
