Hit and run driver charged
He disappeared from the scene of an accident that left two children injured, but today that driver, twenty-nine year old Freddy Grant Junior, has been arrested and charged. A total of six charges have been brought against Grant, including driving without due care and attention, failure to report an accident, failure to confirm to a traffic sign, failure to stop and render aid, negligent harm, and negligent grievous harm. The vehicle knocked down three-year-old Angeli Miranda and two year old Anthony Miranda. On Thursday afternoon the brother and sister were standing with their mother at the corner of Vernon and Mosul streets waiting for a bus, when they were struck by Grant. He had run through a stop sign on Mosul Street and was hit on the side by an oncoming vehicle driving down Vernon Street. The crash caused Grant to lose control and he ran right into the Miranda family. Following the accident, Grant did not stay at the scene to help the injured children, nor did he report the incident to police. It was not until a couple of days later that Grant handed himself into authorities.
