The Evangelical View of Christmas from Scott Stirm

Scott Stirm

While he has made his name as an activist for Christian and traditional values, particularly when it comes to fighting amorality and homosexuality, Scott Stirm is first and foremost a pastor, and a tender of the Christian sheep. In our interview with him in Belmopan, News Five asked for his perspective on the meaning of Christmas and the birth of Jesus to a hungry, desperate world. The best way to honor God’s Son and His impact on our lives, he said, is to give our lives to Him.

Scott Stirm, Director, Belize Action

“The Christmas time is one of the most special times, if not the most special time for me personally; because it is a time when we recognize the birth of the Messiah, our Saviour that came into the world; where God became a man in the form of a physical, human body to be able to touch and identify with everything we feel; and then for Jesus to be able to break the power of the curse of death, all of those things together. It is a time when we celebrate that coming of God’s gift to us of his love. So yes, it is a time of celebration; it is a time of family. And I just want to encourage all of us: lift your eyes to Jesus. He’s the reason for the season. God has radically changed my life; he’s radically changed so many people’s lives in the country of Belize. Look at their lives and see that change, and let us go there together as a nation.”

On a related note, Stirm and the National Evangelical Association of Belize are planning a further press conference in relation to recent developments with moral and spiritual issues in Belize for after the Christmas season.
