Year’s first baby arrived at K.H.M.H.

He weighed in at a healthy six pounds fourteen ounces. And just as Antoine Anthony Miles was taking his first breath his name was being inscribed in the record books as 2004’s first baby born at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. When Antoine’s mother, twenty-nine year old Marcia Usher of King’s Park, received the news she told us that it was a surprise ending to a problem free pregnancy.
Marcia Usher, Mother of 2004 First Baby
“As I come here I had my baby because I was walking from home to hospital, so that when I reach here no problem. About after three New Year’s morning I start to have pain, and so I say well, I wait a while home to make pain come on more and like three-thirty I left from home, reach here like minutes to four. And as I reach here I have baby… I felt like somebody else, other else people done have baby New Year’s Day, I never think I would have been the first.”
Usher told News 5 that baby Antoine is her fifth and most likely last child. She received a bassinet containing baby food and other products from the Belize City Lions Club valued at three hundred dollars. In addition to the Lion’s gifts, Usher also received disposable diapers from Santiago Castillo Limited.
